Hearing God’s voice many people claim to be able to hear God’s voice and others cannot or is unable to hear God’s voice. From what i hear its because they got the wrong idea hearing God’s voice is not listening to God just like someone is talking to one another. The voice that God uses to talk to us is not a physical voice it isn’t a voice people can hear neither is it a voice in our head. A voice in our head would be us talking to ourselves but hearing God’s voice can only come from the holy spirit within us. Another way God can talk to us is through reading the bible by reading the bible we will begin to understand what God wants us to do. Another way is through other people this way is using other people to talk to us but the problem is we fail to recognize what is from the Lord or sometimes we choose to ignore it. To hear God’s voice we must have a close relationship with God.
There are 7 ways to be able to hear God’s voice
- Hearing God’s voice is difficult enough but by hearing God’s voice we must be able to understand what it means and obey what He asks. We do have a choice to obey or not. But when it comes down to it even though it looks like bad choices in the end God only wants what’s best for us. We may struggle but in the end everything is what’s best for us and sometimes God uses us to be able to help other people find God’s voice. Scripture: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (II Timothy 3:16-17).
- The Holy Spirit speaking to our heart: "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen, and everyone his brother, saying, 'know the Lord,' for all will know Me, from the least to the greatest of them" (Hebrews 8:10-11).
- The Prophetic (word of knowledge, word of wisdom, personal prophecy): "Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good" (I Thessalonians 5:19-21).
- Godly counsel: "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14).
- Confirmation: "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed" (Matthew 18:16).
- The peace of God: "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15).
- Circumstances/Timing: "After these things he (Paul) left Athens and went to Corinth. And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came to them, and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and they were working; for by trade they were tent-makers" (Acts 18:1-3 -- this relationship between Paul, Aquila and Priscilla -- which happened as a result of circumstances -- became one of the most important strategic partnerships in the book of Acts).
These seven ways can help strengthen the bond between us and God and even allow us to hear God’s voice.
My group has chosen to go with hearing God’s voice and with an example of a bully. Because bullies are so common we chose a bully as our starting point. And as he begins to hear God’s voice he slowly changes and he stops bullying people and live a good life. The reason we chose hearing God’s voice was because not many people realize it but we can actually hear God’s voice and because not many people realize it the more reason this poster has. This poster is meant to show what types of changes people can go through when God is working within them.
